Alloco (Fried Sweet Plantains with Sauce Tomate)
We think everyone can agree that this is a universally loved dish. Fried plantain dishes come in all different shapes and sizes, spanning the globe with a variety of flavors. Veronique's recipe calls on the traditional style from her homeland of Côte d'Ivoire. Using slightly ripened sweet plantains, the fruit is peeled & sliced and then placed in the deep-fryer until they reach a slightly crispy texture. With a hint of sweetness in each piece, the dish is served with Veronique's famous homemade sauce tomate, creating a nice balance of sweet and savory flavors. It's a great starter dish and compliments any entree dish perfectly.
